Day 7: Rainy Wednesday Morning

Hi everyone! I woke up early today to update my blog, and it was cold and raining. Good thing I didn’t plan anything today. It’s nice to just stay in and laze around the house. Anyway, the reason I’m blogging early is because I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who voted for my book trailer on the book trailer making contest hosted and sponsored by Schmexy Girl Book Blog and Ms. Kennedy Ryan.

Thank you so much! I won the book trailer making contest because of you all! I’d love to do this again given the right materials (I saw another book trailer making contest but the book isn’t my cup of tea). Thank you for your support and please feel free to spread the video. When You Are Mine is Kennedy Ryan’s debut novel and the sequel will be out on October!

When You Are Mine

When You Are Mine

Synopsis:

Forever is a heartbeat away . . .

Kerris Moreton knows how to make things work. Bounced from foster home to foster home as a kid, she adapted; when opportunity arose, she thrived. Now, about to open her own business and accept a marriage proposal, Kerris is ready to build the life she’s always wanted. The only thing missing? A passionate connection with her would-be fiancé, Cam. Kerris wants to believe that sparks are overrated-until Walsh Bennett lights her up like the Fourth of July.

. . . but what about love?

As one of the East Coast’s most eligible bachelors, Walsh enjoys financial independence, fulfilling work with his family’s nonprofit, and plenty of female attention. But lately he’s been distracted by the one woman he can’t have. Lovely to look at and even sweeter to know, Kerris is the soul mate Walsh never thought he would find. The problem is, his best friend found her first . . .

Day 6: Planning for more trips!

As soon as we arrived in Cubao from our Tagaytay trip, I met up with my friend Phoebe at Gateway to plan more trips for the next week. We planned a week long vacation to the north… Baguio, Ilocos, to Vigan. I’m already excited just thinking about it!

I hate myself for being so clumsy! Did I mention that I almost face planted at the Riyadh airport? Anyway, when Phoebe and I were eating and discussing our vacation plans in Pizza Hut Bistro at Gateway, I spilled my water all over my lap. Gah, I’m such a klutz! On the brighter side, the water did not spill on my laptop. Still, I was completely drenched when we were done eating. LOL

I stayed overnight at Phoebe’s place in Timog. We tried looking for affordable hotels but our friend Nelie, who will be flying from Hawaii next week is uncooperative. Just kidding! We weren’t able to reach her because she was probably sleeping at the time. So, I decided to sleep instead because I was still feeling the effects of my Tagaytay trip, I was exhausted.

I woke up the following day around 4:00am. We finally reached Nelie and booked our hotels via agoda (dot) com. The prices on agoda is probably the cheapest you can find online.

My mom picked me up at Cubao around 8:00 am because I’m not very familiar with the directions how to go home. My parents moved to Rodrguez Rizal only 2 months ago, and I suck at directions so, my parents decided that it was best for me that at least one of them will go out with me should i need to leave the house. My mom was hungry when we met up, so we had breakfast at Jollibee. I had another another incident, I spilled our pineapple juice all over my clothes while trying to find our table. What did I do wrong to deserve this?!?

Anyway, the rest of the day was quite uneventful. After buying Crabs and beef at the Farmer’s Market we immediately went home. My mother cooked the most amazing “Ginataang Alimango” (Crabs cooked in coconut milk), I ate several servings of rice, haha! After lunch, I spent the rest of the day in my bed, sleeping. Hehehe.

I don’t have plans on going out this next few days until August 1. I will be meeting up with my book club and blogger friends on the 2nd, and on the 3rd will be the start of our week-long vacation to the Northern Luzon.

Day 5: Tagaytay Trip Part Two

A friend of mine forgot to turn off her phone alarm which woke me up at 5:00 am. We left the hotel at around 8:00 am to grab some breakfast at Mcdonald’s because someone was craving for Sausage Mcmuffins, LOL. Anyway, as soon as we finished eating we left for Skyranch. We didn’t know their schedule so we weren’t surprised that the Skyranch hasn’t opened yet.

When we left the hotel, the weather was good. The sun was bright and the sky was blue, but as soon as we left Skyranch and went to Robinson’s to buy bottled waters, the weather started to change. It started to get cold and foggy. My friend suggested that we stay at Starbucks while waiting for the Skyranch to open.

We stayed in Starbucks for 3 hours! It rained not long after my friend purchased her coffee. We waited until the rain stopped and finally got the chance to experience Skyranch.

The fees are quite reasonable. The entrance fee is currently at a promotional price of 50.00 php. I think the regular fee is 100.00 php. The fees varies for each ride, mostly the cost ranges from 50.00- 100.00 php. The Sky Eye ride (Ferris Wheel) cost 150.00 php.

It wasn’t raining when we got in,  but as soon as we purchased our tickets for the Sky Eye ride, it started to drizzle. The weather was very unpredictable, but it was understandable because July is a rainy season here in the Philippines. I guess the view from the top would have been awesome if it wasn’t raining. The images I captured from the top were foggy.

We didn’t try any other rides because they are either too scary (like the zipline, vikings, horses!) or too kid- friendly (like the carousel, train ride, etc.). I think the main attraction here is the Ferris Wheel because of the view and unfortunately, we weren’t able to experience that because of the fog. I honestly believe that the Skyranch is overrated, it isn’t really much, but I still enjoyed the experience because the company was great.

We left Skyranch and immediately went back to our hotel to check-out. We took a lot of photos because the weather cleared again!  We left Tagaytay after purchasing our ridiculously expensive “pasalubongs“.

Day 5 didn’t end here but I’ll add the rest of my “gala” stories of the day on the next post. =)

Day 4: Tagaytay Trip Part One

Well, you all know how excited I was for this trip and I can’t even tell you how glad I am that we pushed this vacation through despite some issues. Most of our friends weren’t able to make it due to conflict on our schedules but it turned out well. We had an all-girl out of town trip and it was a blast!

I met with my friends at Starbucks Ali Mall and then we took a cab to Buendia to ride a bus to Tagaytay. It was a very smooth 2-hr trip to Tagaytay. I think the cab ride cost less than 200.00php (I’m not sure because It was my friend who paid the fare) and the bus fare to Tagaytay is only 83.00php. Affordable right?

We arrived in our hotel safely. Tagaytay Country Hotel was very easy to find, it is walking distance from the main road. You can ask around around or use GPS in case your not sure where to go. =D

After checking in, we immediately went out to find a restaurant and a spa. After wandering around with no success, we decided to go to RSM where my friend ate when she was in Tagaytay last time. We ordered Tagaytay “specials” such as Bulalo and Crispy Tawilis. We also ordered Sisig which also tasted great. The Bulalo definitely measured up to the hype, it was really good, and it was raining so it was perfect. It was my first time to try Crispy Tawilis and I was pleasantly surprised because it was amazing. I think I was the one who ate most from our Tawilis order, hehehe. RSM is a wonderful restaurant— the location was good, the food was great and they even have very talented musicians who serenaded us while we were eating. We stayed there for a couple of hours because it rained a bit. We asked one of the servers where we can find a spa and we were lucky because he knows one which is not that far from the restaurant.

We arrived at Spa On The Go a few minutes later and prepared for our full body massage. You can choose what oil they will use for your body— peppermint, lavender or eucalyptus. I have absolutely no idea what kind of massage techniques the masseuse used (I heard it was a combination of 3 techniques) but all I can say is that it was so relaxing. I would definitely get another one before I leave the Philippines.

After our relaxing full body massage, we decided to go back to our hotel because we were tired and it was already late. We stopped by at 7- Eleven and bought some snacks. We had an ice cream and movie night, it was really fun. As soon as the movie ended, we fell asleep. That was the end of Day 4.

I’ll post the Tagaytay Trip Part Two later! =D

Day 3: Rainy Saturday Afternoon…

It rained hard the entire afternoon here in Rodriguez Rizal, Philippines and I’m glad I decided to stay in for the day. After my exhausting adventure with my mom yesterday, I woke up today with back and leg pains. I have plans to go out of town tomorrow with friends that’s why it was a good decision to take the rest of the day off.

We are going to Tagaytay tomorrow! I am very excited because I haven’t seen my friends for almost 3 years. I hope it wont rain tomorrow because most of the attractions in Tagaytay are outdoors. We plan to check out the Sky Ranch. I’ve been in Tagaytay in 2009 but the Sky ranch wasn’t built yet. I think it opened last year around March.

On another note, the book trailer contest I joined for Kennedy Ryan’s debut novel will end tomorrow, July 27, 2014. You can still cast your votes here.

I thank everyone who voted for my video, you guys are awesome! I also want to thank the hosts and the author Ms. Kennedy Ryan for this amazing opportunity. Please check out Ms. Ryan’s book When You Are Mine here. You can also read my review of the book here.

I might be MIA for the next 3 days because I will be out of town, but I’ll update this blog as soon as I can. =)

Day 2: Claimed my UMID/SSS ID and more shopping!

Unified Multi-Purpose ID

Unified Multi-Purpose ID

After 3 freaking years, I finally got my UMID card! I applied for the said card back in August 2011 and it was released one year later. However, we moved to a different house and the ID was returned to the SSS office in Cubao. Since I was abroad for the last 2 years and 9 mos, I wasn’t able to claim it until yesterday. It was pretty easy, I just had to show a valid ID and sign some release forms. The UMID card can also be used to transact with GSIS, PAG-IBIG Fund and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.

Anyway, after out brief trip to SSS Cubao, me and my mom shopped at the Araneta Center. A lot have changed since I’ve been there less than 3 years ago. There are new restaurants and improvements made around Araneta Center. Also, it looked like the Araneta is aiming for a more eco-friendly shopping area. They no longer use plastic bags when you shop, you have to pay 2.00 php should you wish to use a plastic bag instead of a paper bag. I have no clue when it started, but if you guys are going to shop there, make sure you have a shopping bag of your own specially if you are going to make large purchases. We bought bathroom fixtures which are heavy and breakable so we had to purchase the bags. =(

my glasses with upgraded lenses

I also had my eyes checked yesterday at Sabater Optical at Farmer’s. I knew I had to update my lenses because of the incident at the airport. Anyway, I paid 800.00 php for each pair of glasses (the price will be a lot higher if you buy a new frame).  We were asked to return at the shop after two hours so that they can fit the new lenses. While they are holding my working eyes hostage, we went shopping for toiletries and some bathroom fixtures. I had to cling to my mom, because I couldn’t see anything! Exactly 2 hours later, I received my updated glasses and the world became clearer and brighter! I also had my hair cut at Reyes Haircutters for only 200.00 php.

dinner at Chowking!

dinner at Chowking!

After all the shopping we did, of course we got hungry and ate at Chowking. We ordered Chicken Lauriat which in my opinion still tastes the same but a little pricey than it used to.

We also went to Shopwise because we were looking for… I don’t even remember what, but we didn’t find what we needed so I ended up buying my favorite food from Shopwise— Ensaymada! It used to be 50.00 php per box but it’s now 67.00 php. It still tastes awesome!

Day 2 was exhausting yet very productive. Today is Day 3 and I will probably stay home all day to recharge for Day 4! =D

Day 1: Someone got a new ride!

As I planned yesterday, I did fell asleep most of the day. I think I woke up around three o’clock in the afternoon and I noticed how perfect the weather is for shopping– not too sunny and it wasn’t raining either. So, I told my mother that we should go out and buy some toiletries and other stuff. Well, we ended buying a new couch, a new bed and a new bicycle for my father.

When I was a kid, I used to nag my parents to buy me a bike since all of my friends had one. I was sure that my parents don’t have enough funds for that luxury, but as soon as they did, they bought me one. It was a second hand bike but I loved it. Now, I’m returning the favor and bought my Dad a brand new one. I think my father loves it, he even parked it inside our house because he’s scared that it will get stolen or something. LOL.

yummy!

My favorite part of the day was the meals! My mother cooked my favorite dishes including the shrimp above. I’m pretty sure I’ll gain weight when this vacation ends.

Today is Day 2 and I’ll probably spend most of the day out. The weather is really nice, the sun is up and there are no signs of dark clouds in the sky. I’ll be posting my update tomorrow!
