Practically Imperfect by Mary Frame

Gemma McDougall is certain about three things: One, she’s never going to lose her Latina ass. Two, her career is more important than the crappy (and nonexistent) relationships she’s had to endure her entire adult life. Three, she’s going to get the next promotion to detective if it kills her. But then her job literally almost kills her, and she’s forced into unwanted medical leave.

Sam London is certain about three things: One, he has no idea how to have a normal adult relationship and will likely die cold and alone, ravaged by wild dogs. Two, playing a game of Drinking Jenga, while fun, also leads to late nights sneaking into the neighbor’s yard and getting held at gunpoint by the neighbor’s daughter. Three, he has no idea what kind of trouble Gemma McDougall has gotten herself into, but he’s going to be a part of it, no matter what.

I really enjoyed reading this series. I loved all the characters and their stories. I heard that a book bundle of this series will be available soon and that it will be cheaper than buying the books one by one. So, if you liked the blurb and decided to read the Imperfect series you should consider buying the book bundle.

Happy weekend everyone!

My Birthday Book Recommendations.

What a cold November morning! Brrr. Today is my 27th birthday and I thank God for the great year I had! I also would like to thank my family and all my friends who sent their greetings, I love you all!

Happy 27th Birthday to me!!! =D

I wanted to do something special so, I decided to post a book recommendation today. I hope you consider reading them because they are really awesome!

New Adult:

#Nerd by Cambria Hebert

Note: This is a very good sports contemporary romance! It reminds me of the move She’s All That starring Freddie Prince Jr in which the jock falls for a nerd.

Two people from completely different worlds are about to be thrown together…

In more ways than one.

She wants to keep her scholarship. He wants to stay on the team. An awkward alliance doesn’t even begin to cover Rimmel and Romeo’s relationship.

But that’s about to change.

It starts with a dare. An initiation. A challenge.

Quickly, it turns into more. But when you’re a victim of your status, there is no room for anything real. The rules are clear and simple.

Stick to your circle.

And never fall in love with anyone on the outside.

Young Adult:

Even the Moon has Scars by Steph Campbell

Note: The cover is gorgeous and the story is just as sweet! It’s a feel-good YA contemporary romance and you will definitely enjoy Lena & Gabe’s adventure in Boston.

Two strangers.
Two broken hearts.
One night to set each other free.

Almost dying from an undiagnosed heart condition means every second of your life is a precious gift to be guarded.
Lena Pettitt was born a miracle.
And her parents never let her forget it.
Even if that daily reminder kept her from experiencing the one thing they were trying to protect most–her life.

Gabriel Martinez’s heart has been ripped out.
His pride has been stomped on.
Oh, and he now has an arrest record that’s caused an even bigger rift between him and his DA mother. All for a love that wasn’t really true.

Now he’s exiled to his grandmother’s, working on his late grandpa’s old Corvair, when a shivering girl knocks on the garage door. Lena, left alone for the first time ever, has locked herself out of her house. Gabe knows he could help this girl get back inside her house–but that may mean missing the next train to Boston to pick up the part he’s spent eight weeks tracking down. She can wait for him at his grandmother’s or…

A few hours, an aluminum valve cover, and some strong coffee later, neither Gabe nor Lena can feign disappointment when they race to the station and arrive just as the last train home from Boston is pulling out.

As jaded as he is, Gabe can’t deny the fact that he’s excited to spend the night exploring a city he knows nearly every corner of, with a girl who sees magic in the simplest things.

Lena has been waiting for her tiny world to crack open her entire life. Now that it’s finally happened, she finds the only thing she can focus on is the unexpected tour guide who opens her eyes to possibilities she never imagined.

All they have is this one night, together, under the bright moon in a city full of hidden beauty.
It’s one night that will change how they see the world and the paths their hearts will take forever.

Tairen Soul Series by CL Wilson

Note: This was recommended to me by my friend Hazel, aka Rock Chick Fairy and all I can say is that is completely magical!

The Tairen Soul series tells the story of Ellysetta Baristani and Rain Tairen Soul as they fight to save the tairen and the Fey, defeat the dangerous power of the Eld Mages, and complete their truemate bond.

The Martian by Andy Weir

Note: This was a recommendation by my friend Melai and I loved it! Brainy is the new sexy, LOL. I also heard they are doing a movie real soon starring Matt Damon, eeep!!!

Apollo 13 meets Cast Away in this grippingly detailed, brilliantly ingenious man-vs-nature survival thriller, set on the surface of Mars.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first men to walk on the surface of Mars. Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first man to die there.

It started with the dust storm that holed his suit and nearly killed him, and that forced his crew to leave him behind, sure he was already dead. Now he’s stranded millions of miles from the nearest human being, with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive–and even if he could get word out, his food would be gone years before a rescue mission could arrive. Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to get him first.

But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills–and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit–he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. But will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

Upcoming NA (not yet released):

Imperfectly Criminal by Mary Frame

Note: I received an ARC from the author and and I thoroughly enjoyed this one! What a great birthday present! It will be available any day now. =) In the mean time, you can read it’s companion novel Imperfect Chemistry. =D

Freya Morgan thought it was a great idea to hire the bad boy on campus to beat up her douchebag ex-boyfriend after he cheated and treated her like crap. Fast forward a few months, and nothing she’s done has helped her get over the scars left behind by her ex. Not the paid beating, not the string of sucky dates, nothing.

Dean Collins is in trouble, and it’s all Freya’s fault. After all, she started the trend of all the ladies on campus paying him to do their dirty work. But now, two of the boys he was hired to beat up are dead, and he’s the only connection.

When Freya agrees to help him find the real killer, she discovers that this bad boy isn’t so bad, after all. And getting involved with him means more than finding a killer, it means potentially losing her life…and her heart.

I woke up early today and I can already feel the change in the temperature… Winter is coming! In the Philippines, people are starting to put up their Christmas decors and playing their favorite Christmas songs. Here in KSA, it’s business as usual. LOL. We had a 5-day vacation to celebrate the Eid, so, I pretty much slept and read the days away. Anyway, i’m back at work so , yeah…boring.

On our other blog, my friend Rock Chick Fairy is giving away 2 ebook sets written by Kristen Ashley. She’s a huge fan so she’s doing the giveaway once a month (I think). Please click the banner to be redirected to the raffle.

banner newStill on books, I recently read and reviewed a YA fiction that I really enjoyed. It’s a tearjerker, so prepare tissues should you wish to read it. Fans of The Fault in Our Stars and A Walk to Remember might enjoy this book. It’s Love and Other Unknown Variables by Shannon Alexander.

Day 7: Rainy Wednesday Morning

Hi everyone! I woke up early today to update my blog, and it was cold and raining. Good thing I didn’t plan anything today. It’s nice to just stay in and laze around the house. Anyway, the reason I’m blogging early is because I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who voted for my book trailer on the book trailer making contest hosted and sponsored by Schmexy Girl Book Blog and Ms. Kennedy Ryan.

Thank you so much! I won the book trailer making contest because of you all! I’d love to do this again given the right materials (I saw another book trailer making contest but the book isn’t my cup of tea). Thank you for your support and please feel free to spread the video. When You Are Mine is Kennedy Ryan’s debut novel and the sequel will be out on October!

When You Are Mine

When You Are Mine

Forever is a heartbeat away . . .

Kerris Moreton knows how to make things work. Bounced from foster home to foster home as a kid, she adapted; when opportunity arose, she thrived. Now, about to open her own business and accept a marriage proposal, Kerris is ready to build the life she’s always wanted. The only thing missing? A passionate connection with her would-be fiancé, Cam. Kerris wants to believe that sparks are overrated-until Walsh Bennett lights her up like the Fourth of July.

. . . but what about love?

As one of the East Coast’s most eligible bachelors, Walsh enjoys financial independence, fulfilling work with his family’s nonprofit, and plenty of female attention. But lately he’s been distracted by the one woman he can’t have. Lovely to look at and even sweeter to know, Kerris is the soul mate Walsh never thought he would find. The problem is, his best friend found her first . . .

Loving You Always

Loving You Always

Kerris Moreton should be the happiest woman in the world: She has a successful business and is about to start the family she’s always wanted. But the man of her dreams-the one whose green eyes see straight into her soul and whose gentle hands make her body hum with pleasure-is not hers.

Each secret moment with Walsh Bennett serves to remind Kerris of what she’s missing. And every stolen hour makes it harder to see her future without him. But being with Walsh would betray a sacred promise and upend her perfect life. When tragedy strikes, the razor’s edge between love and loyalty grows sharper than ever. And Kerris must decide where her heart will fall . . .

My flight is on the 23rd, and I’m already freaking excited! There are so many places I want to go to, but I don’t think a month is enough. Anyway, let me share to you what I have done for the past two months…
